Getting Started

Zero-tolerance policy:

  1. No discussion of real life monetary transactions.
  2. No distribution of personal information, including your own.
  3. No racial or ethnic slurs.
  4. No sharing accounts.
  5. Allegiances are responsible for enforcing rules.  There are no GMs, moderators, etc.  Do not waste development time.


The GDLE source code is developed independently of any servers which may or may not exist, and this site.

Installer and required updates
Download Installer
  • Right click the installer and run as admin. Do not change the default install path!
  • If it won’t run, check if the download finished.  Right click, go to properties, and it should be 571 MB.
Download Update
  • Download and unzip for three files:  acclient.exe, client_cell_1.dat, and client_portal.dat
  • Copy and paste all three files into your Turbine > AC folder.  Click “Replace the files.”
Account creation
Create Harvestbud (PvE) Account Create Hightide (PvP) Account Create Reefcull (PvE) Account
  • No email is sent, but please use a real address, as it will be saved for the password change system later on.
  • Harvestbud and Hightide have a limit of 3 accounts.  Reefcull has no limit.
Download ThwargLauncher
  • Right click the installer and run as admin. Do not change the default install path!
  • If you are using Windows 7, click here for the .NET 4.5 update.
  • Start ThwargLauncher and switch to Simple View in the bottom right corner.
  • Click on the server you have made an account for.
  • Enter your user name and password at the bottom left.
  • Enable show password at the bottom right to be sure there are no spaces or typos.
  • Click Launch in the bottom right corner to connect.
  • If the vials don’t fill up and you time out, your account info is probably incorrect.
  • The user name and password “test” can be used to be sure you can connect.
Character creation

If the game closes with no error message, be sure ThwargLauncher is in Simple View.

Starting build suggestions:

  • DO NOT TRAIN Void Magic or Dirty Fighting (work in progress).
  • Mage: train War, Life, Creature, Item, Mana Con (50), or specialize War, train Life and Mana Con (46).
  • Archer: specialize Missile, train Melee D, Fletching, Healing, Item, Mana Con (44).
  • High damage melee: specialize Two Hand Combat, train Melee D, Healing, Item, Mana Con (46).
  • Tank melee: specialize Heavy or Finesse and Dual Wield, train Melee D, Healing, Item, Mana Con (46 / 44).
  • Unused skill credits will carry over to your character after logging in.
  • Train Summoning early on.  Only the golem summons sold by vendors are currently available.
  • Buy level 4 life and attribute buffs from Facility Hub in the Town Network to save skill credits earlier on.
  • Archers can use Prismatic ammo at mid levels to avoid trade mules.
  • Specializing defense skills adds Damage Reduction Ratings, but there is almost no effect until high levels.
  • Specialized Healing is significantly more effective than trained.
  • Sneak Attack and Recklessness are optional and dependent on play style.

Fullscreen Direct3D error and required settings

Error on starting game:

  • In Windows 10, fullscreen causes a popup error when entering the world.
  • At the character selection screen, hold Alt + Enter to change to window mode.
  • This may result in a tiny window. Ignore this for now and click Enter.

In game settings:

  • Press F11 and go to Config tab > scroll down midway to Graphics Options > resolution
  • Click the drop down and select the highest number at the bottom to fill the screen.
  • Click “Yes” on the pop up to apply.
  • Scroll down to Rendering Quality Options > Landscape Draw Distance.
  • Click the drop down and select Very Low.
  • Scroll down to Input Options.
  • Disable “Turn your character with camera turning”
  • Click “Apply.”

Window positions don’t automatically save yet, but the original chat commands work.

  • Set your windows up exactly the way you want them to stay.
  • /saveautoui to make it automatic, but unique to the character and resolution.
  • /saveui to make global profiles. You can name them, i.e. /saveui 1 and /saveui 2
  • /loadui when you log in.
Decal with ThwargFilter setup
Download Decal
  • Right click the installer and run as admin. Do not change the default install path!
  • If you receive this error message, run the DirectX installer, then try again.
  • Start Decal, and close the pop up that says the client is out of date.
  • Click update in Decal.
  • A red X for the filter “Version 1 plugin surrogate” is normal.
  • If you have all red Xs, you did not replace acclient.exe in step 1.

ThwargFilter.dll is required

AC will exit with no error

if it is not added to Decal

  • Click add > browse > Program Files (x86) > Thwargle Games > select ThwargFilter.dll as shown here.
  • Enable Decal injection in the bottom right corner of ThwargLauncher.
  • Log in and stay in game for at least 30 seconds to be sure everything works before before installing any plugins.
Virindi Bundle
Download Virindi Bundle
  • Right click and run the installer as admin. Do not change the default install path!
  • Click Check Libs and install anything it says you are missing.
  • Uncheck Virindi Integrator 2 in Decal, or you will see disconnect chat messages in game.
  • Please note that these are the only plugins recommended for most users.
  • Buff, portal and trade bot metas and scripts are available in Decal Plugins.

Required settings:

  • Disable peace mode when idle and avoid changing combat positions.
  • Disable repeat attacks.
  • Minimize any clients you don’t need to see.
  • Healers require the fellowship tab to be open for targeting others.  Keep it closed for all other clients.
  • Auto follow and nav route requires disabling “Turn your character with camera turning”
  • F11 > Config tab > scroll to the bottom > Input Options

If text is too large, reduce Windows font scaling:

  • Close out of everything.
  • Windows search “scale” and click “Make everything bigger.”
  • At the top, set “Change the size of apps and text on the main screen” to 100%.
  • You can put this back or set it to a slightly higher number after you are done with plugin settings in game.

If you have chat errors from Vtank, close everything, and try starting ThwargLauncher as admin.

Virindi Global Inventory setup
  • Rename _Reefcull.db or _Harvestbud.db or _Hightide.db to an original server name, i.e. _Leefcull.db or _Darktide.db
  • If you find that you still have inventory files from the original servers, please upload them to help with content development.
  • Check C:\games\VirindiPlugins\VirindiGlobalInventory for original server names.
  • Please zip and upload to:

Virindi Classic Looter setup
GoArrow maps setup

Download DLLs
  • Download these two files: GoArrow.dll and GoArrow.dll.config
  • Copy and paste both files into your GoArrow folder. Click “Replace the files.”
  • The default location is C:GamesVirindiPluginsGoArrowVVSEdition
  • Restart AC.
ThwargLauncher setup
  • Change ThwargLauncher to Advanced View in the bottom left corner.
  • Click Help and follow the instructions for UserPreferences.ini and Decal settings.
  • Click OnLogin Cmds and add automatic chat commands for /loadui or Vtank.
  • Enable Auto Relaunch at the top right corner for unattended bots.
  • This setting also requires enabling “No movies” and “No logos” in Decal options.
Reduce CPU and GPU use
  • AC will run at excessive frame rates and waste CPU and GPU power.
  • Set a frame rate limit of 60 or 120 FPS outside of the game.
  • Nvidia graphics: MSI Afterburner
  • AMD graphics: driver control panel
  • Intel graphics: AC Power Saver with chat command /powersaver 9
  • Minimize any clients you don’t need to see.
  • Mag-Tools with Mag-Filter will automatically limit out of focus clients to 10 FPS.
